GreenMap

Think Global, Map Local!

Engaging communities worldwide to chart a sustainable future, Green Map System offers adaptable resources and award-winning iconography to both student and adult-led mapmaking projects. Highlighting green living, nature, cultural and social sites, over 350 editions have been published to date, as seen at GreenMap.org. Each is unique but all utilize the same set of Green Map Icons to highlight sites, pathways and resources in over 450 communities in 50 countries. In 2008, the OpenGreenMap.org mapmaking website will debut, adding an inclusive and interactive social media component to sustainable community development. Green Map System has been based in NYC since 1995, and in addition to creating resources for mapmakers worldwide, has published various citywide and themed editions of the Green Apple Map. love.fútbol

love.fútbol develops simple, safe soccer fields for children in impoverished communities worldwide. We envision a day when all children have the opportunity to fulfill their passion for soccer. The game itself is a catalyst for youth development, hope and inspiration.

To face a global demand we focus on simplicity, universality, sustainability and scalability. Our pilot project in Guatemala was designed for our global vision. We developed three soccer fields in three separate communities, each with a distinct culture and language: Ladino, Kaqchikel and Tz’utujil. Each soccer field was a different size and located in both rural and urban environments. The diverse success of our pilot is an indication that our model is replicable throughout Latin America and beyond.

Wearable Collections

Wearable Collections is a socially responsible company that is changing the way New Yorkers recycle clothes. Concerned with the 386 million pounds of textile waste entering New York City's waste stream annually, Wearable Collections has developed a way to make recycling clothes as easy as it is to recycle cans and paper in residential buildings. Wearable Collections provides a no cost, turn-key solution to recycling clothing and maintains the service with weekly pick-ups. Through the sale of the collected clothing, Wearable Collections is able to raise funds for various charitable organizations. By engaging New Yorkers, Wearable Collections teaches them that environmental solutions can be win-win.
