1. Envirolution Founders

ALEX GAMBOA

Executive Director

Alex Gamboa grew up in Reno, NV before moving east to attend Yale University. At Yale, Alex was the starting point guard for the basketball team all four years, was Ivy League rookie of the year, and the team captain during his senior year. He graduated with a degree in Economics. For the past few years he has lived in New York City and worked for a real estate investment company.

As co-founder of Envirolution, Alex is committed to encouraging green practices in personal and business settings. He is passionate about working with youth and has volunteered with a variety of youth groups. Alex has amazing leadership skills and serves as the organizations Executive Director. Over the past two years, he has helped Envirolution make key connections to develop our Council of Advisers and oversaw many of the legal hurdles in the startup process. Alex focuses on general administration, fundraising, and organizational management. He runs team meetings, approaches major funders, manages the organizational structure and efficiency of our efforts, leads partnership development with other organizations, and serves as the point person for all internal inquiries. He also oversees the division of labor of the many volunteers who assist in everything from writing to event planning to donor outreach, and more. Alex recently returned home to launch Envirolution in his local community and now spearheads all efforts in the Reno/Lake Tahoe region.

ANTUAN CANNON

Director of Strategy Development

Antuan Cannon is the co-founder and director of business development for Envirolution, a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing green career development opportunities for high school and college students through green education, civic engagement, and job training programs. At Envirolution, Antuan focuses on developing tools and models for business-greening and green job creation strategies.

Born in Mexico and raised in California, Antuan spent a year of high school studying in France before enrolling in Yale University. At Yale, he double majored in Economics and East Asian Studies. Antuan also studied Portuguese and Chinese, and studied abroad in Brazil and in a Buddhist Monastery in Taiwan.

Professionally, Antuan works as an energy auditor at EME Group, a full service engineering and sustainability consulting company that specializes in energy and LEED projects. There, he manages the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Small Business Energy Audit Program for the majority of the NYC metropolitan area.

Antuan has also worked as a strategy, marketing and/or green consultant to various non-profits and boutique firms, and sits on the executive committee of the NYC Chapter of the Sierra Club.

TIMOTHY POLMATEER

Director of Operations

Timothy Polmateer grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY and has always been concerned with environmental solutions.  In high school, Tim participated in the Dutchess Academy of Environmental Studies, a two year bridge program offered through NY State Parks and the SUNY college system.  He also participated in multiple summer camps structured around learning the environmental sciences and team building skills.

In college at Yale, as a Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trip leader, Tim shared his experience in nature with groups of 10 incoming freshman each year, and taught them the importance of working with the living systems and having a minimal impact.  As a history major, Tim broadened his understanding of the social sciences and understanding what motivates people to act. After college, Tim co-founded Envirolution and has focused on developing the Club Model and a marketing campaign to brand Envirolution. Tim is currently working with Envirolution’s pilot college clubs at Pratt Institute of Design and Yale University.

Tim has lead the pilot Power to the People campaign with the Fort Mojave Indian Nation in Arizona, consulting and planning a 60 megawatt solar power plant. Above all, Tim is passionate about balancing our society with the needs of the natural world.  Tim has lived in the East Village for one year now and is excited to educate the local businesses on reducing their impact, and work with the entire community to collaborate in collectively helping the local environment.

Abigail Reider

Head of West Coast Operations

With her expertise in writing, Abby oversees all internal and external communications for Envirolution, including grant writing, website content, and official documents. She also co-organized the first Reno Envirolution Experience in June 2007, which was called by a seasoned city official, "the most successful inaugural event of any organization in Reno's history." Abby's other focus is on program and network development on the West Coast, specifically in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the Reno/Tahoe region.

Abby has taken many writing courses, has written for San Francisco Magazine and a number of Yale publications, and won national awards for her writing as the Editor-in-Chief of her high school newspaper in Palo Alto, California. Abby returned to the West Coast after college graduation and now lives in San Francisco where she works for the Omidyar Network.
