About Enviroloution - Staff/Team
Our Team
A Reno resident for the last 26 years, Andrew Highison graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2008 with a B.A. in English Literature. Andrew began working toward a career in education as a substitute for the Washoe County School District, often teaching in the same schools that he had once attended. In 2010 he completed his professional certification in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the American TESOL Institute. During the 2010-2011 school year Andrew was fortunate enough to take his passion for education abroad, working as a Conversational English instructor and curriculum developer for middle and high school students in Thailand.
Outside of school, Andrew participated in diverse volunteer opportunities that have focused on community development and environmental sustainability. Through AmeriCorps, he worked for the Great Basin Institute on trail maintenance and urban forestry projects in the Lake Tahoe area. As a member of WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms), Andrew worked at the Aprovecho Sustainability Education Center in Oregon, gaining a wealth of practical knowledge in organic food production and sustainable life skills. Andrew’s most memorable experience has been as a participant in Bike Aid, a cross-country charity bicycle ride that took public service and community involvement across America, from Seattle to Washington D.C.
Now, Andrew is excited to join the innovative team at Envirolution™, and is thrilled for the opportunity to make a positive impact in the Reno/Sparks community that he calls home.
