About Enviroloution - Staff/Team
Our Team
Keira grew up in the verdant hills of southern West Virginia, and was home schooled by her parents: a computer specialist and a fine artist. Throughout her life, the sciences and arts have vied equally for her attention. During a whirlwind four years in Marietta, Ohio, Keira earned two Bachelors degrees—a B. S. in Biology, and a B. A. in English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing. During the peak of summer in 2009, Keira moved to Reno, Nevada to pursue a Masters degree in Literature & Environment studies from the University of Nevada, Reno. Over the years, the grey and brown mountains against which Reno is nestled have started to look a little greener—though still not comparable to the rain-shadowed valleys of the Appalachian Trail. Since completing her Masters thesis, in which she explored the effects of genre expectations and apocalyptic rhetoric on environmental discourse, Keira has been working as a free-lance writer, specializing in web content development, editing, and grant writing. She also currently teaches ten freshman composition courses at UNR, is an avid Latin dancer, and is an active member of Reno’s green community.
