Scott Terrell

Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Planning and Masters in Energy and Environmental Education degrees from Humboldt State University in 1981/2. He worked as Energy Services Specialist for City of Riverside Public Utilities Department from 1982-88. Then went to work for the Turlock Irrigation District as their Energy Conservation Manager from 1988-92. His current position with the Truckee Donner Public Utility District is as the District’s Conservation Administrator.

The main focus of Scott’s career has been in energy, water efficiency, renewable energy, green building and sustainability. Scott’s primary work has been in the Truckee community, but has worked on developing several partnerships throughout the region in the areas of green businesses and green building and sustainability. Scott has worked with hundreds of businesses and several builders, developers and agencies to assist with their green business and building projects. Scott has developed many local, state and national award winning programs throughout his 30 year career. Scott currently teaches courses in energy & water efficiency, renewable energy, green building and living, sustainability and green careers in four area colleges.

Scott received a Regional Sustainability Vision award from the No. NV Architect’s Institute of America (AIA) in 2007. Scott also received the Truckee Green Hero award in 2009 from Alpine Green Living magazine. Scott has served on a number of resource-conserving and sustainability non-profit groups and committees local and statewide. Scott is a Certified Energy Manager through the National Association of Energy Engineers and is a certified Residential Energy Auditor. Scott received the AEE No. California Energy Manager of the Year Award a decade ago.
