Did You Know: Plastic never actually decomposes? That means that every piece of plastic ever made is still somewhere on this planet – in the air, the ground, or in our water. Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) recruits over 4,000 volunteers a year to help with large scale cleanup events like the Truckee River Cleanup Day, the Great Community Cleanup, and year-round programs like Adopt-A-Spot. KTMB will give their Waste Warriors presentation during our upcoming Sustainability Tour, which will be held during Washoe County School District Spring Break between March 26th and 30th for students aged 12 to 18.  Read More →

Did you Know: The Lockwood Landfill creates green energy from landfill gas? Lockwood powers two CAT 3520 engines, generating approximately 3.2 megawatts of electricity. The “green” electricity goes directly into the existing NV Energy electrical grid. That’s enough electricity to power approximately 2,000 homes annually. Lockwood Landfill will be one of the stops on our upcoming Sustainability Tour, where students will learn about their sustainable treatment of waste. Held March 26th to 30th during Washoe County School District Spring Break.Read More →

Located on the Truckee River, the Oxbow Nature Study Area serves the public for Wildlife Education and Aquatic Education programs offered by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Caitlin Lynch is Envirolution’s New Social Media Intern. Caitlin is a junior at University of Nevada, Reno studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. She is a member of the UNR Student Ambassadors who are honors students that volunteer 5-7 hours a month to help prospective students make an informed decision on their college choice.
