Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) recruits over 4,000 volunteers a year to help with large scale cleanup events like the Truckee River Cleanup Day, the Great Community Cleanup, and year-round programs like Adopt-A-Spot. Did you Know: The Lockwood Landfill creates green energy from landfill gas? Lockwood powers two CAT 3520 engines, generating approximately 3.2 megawatts of electricity. The “green” electricity goes directly into the existing NV Energy electrical grid. That’s enough electricity to power approximately 2,000 homes annually. Located on the Truckee River, the Oxbow Nature Study Area serves the public for Wildlife Education and Aquatic Education programs offered by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Caitlin Lynch is Envirolution’s New Social Media Intern. Caitlin is a junior at University of Nevada, Reno studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. She is a member of the UNR Student Ambassadors who are honors students that volunteer 5-7 hours a month to help prospective students make an informed decision on their college choice.
