Geothermal Energy Lesson

Project ReCharge is excited to put the final touches on a new Geothermal Energy Lesson that supports NGSS Earth and Physical Science Standards. Students discover what geothermal energy is by investigating a local phenomenon, Fly Geyser, and a Stirling engine. Students then investigate where geothermal energy is found through primary map resources and comparing the earth’s core to a lava lamp. Lastly, students will figure out how heat energy is used to provide heat and electricity to a community by developing a model of a geothermal power plant through inquiry-based learning. Stay tuned for more information on a Refresh Training in the Fall to bring this lesson to your classroom!
