LoadIQ and Project ReCharge

For Project ReCharge, we are utilizing exciting energy monitoring technology from LoadIQ, a Reno-based business. This partnership will allow the students participating in Project ReCharge to monitor their school’s energy data in real time! LoadIQ is a remarkably innovative system for understanding electrical energy, and how it is used in buildings. The system allows people to see energy use, better understand energy sources and impacts, and to evaluate how we can use less energy. At the heart of the system is a sophisticated computer program and magic electronic box that together read signals at thousands of times per second coming from sensors that are placedRead More →

In energy terms, theRead More →

Project ReCharge Finishes Year One

Congratulations to our Project ReCharge Year One participating teachers! Six teachers from Reed High School and O’Brien Middle School participated Year One of Project ReCharge, an energy efficiency program for Northern Nevada classrooms funded by the National Science Foundation. The teachers underwent extensive training about the program and provided valuable feedback on the curriculum, which is given to them for use in the classroom and covers topics such as energy generation, alternative energy production, and energy efficiency in lighting systems, appliances, and building construction. Their much appreciated feedback has been incorporated into the curriculum for future use by students and teachers. The teachers were provided nearly $2,500Read More →
