Project ReCharge Virtual STEAM Guest Speakers
During professional development, participating teachers are introduced to the Project ReCharge STEAM guest speaker series, an evolving list of various STEAM professionals in our community that are willing to speak to classes about their science, technology, engineering, art and math professions. This community connection element is a beneficial tool for the teachers, engaging for the students and is a great way for professionals to give back to the community. Mentoring.org reports, “One strategy to support youth career development is through positive mentoring relationships that allow young people to explore various career options, develop their skills, and stay engaged academically as they prepare for a career. In general, mentors set the stage for lifelong success by providing guidance, support, and encouragement that effectively build the social-emotional, cognitive, and positive identity of a young person.” Becoming a STEAM guest speaker is a powerful way to engage and mentor young students in the community.
Our list includes professionals from solar, renewable energy, utility representatives, green buildings and more. We are always looking to add more professionals to our list, which is only shared with our participating Project ReCharge teachers. If you are in a STEAM career field and would like to share your knowledge and passion with teachers and students, please fill out the google form here or contact aimee.frugoli@envirolution.org for more information!
