- Exciting STEM Careers
- Environmentally Friendly Business Practices
- Renewable Energy Sources and Innovative Technologies
The Sustainability Tour is an exciting, five-day opportunity for northern Nevada middle and high school students to travel to Reno’s finest businesses and organizations to explore STEM careers, environmentally friendly practices, and learn about the local sustainability movement. We conclude the week by constructing sustainability ‘Vision Boards’ and by leading a community cleanup of Pickett Park.
Student application will be available in January. For any questions, please email Aimee Frugoli at aimee.frugoli@envirolution.org
The 2019 Sustainability Tour ran from March 25th to March 29th.

Recap: Sustainability Tour 2019!
This spring marked the fourth time Envirolution has hosted the Sustainability Tour. We are pleased to report that the event was a success, and that — in surveys taken
The 2019 Sustainability Tour saw a total of 23 students participate over the course of five days, and we visited locations ranging from TESLA’s Gigafactory 1 to Dayton Valley Aquaponics to Waste Management’s regional landfill and recycling center. Every day featured a ‘Guiding Question’ (such as ‘Where does our food come from and how does that relate to sustainability?’) to help focus the students’ learning. At the end of the week, we participated in a community cleanup at Pickett Park and constructed ‘Vision Boards’ to better imagine our sustainable future.
A huge THANK YOU to all of our partners — those that facilitated tours, provided transportation, donated raffle tickets or even gave us discounts on student lunches — as there’s no way we could have done it without you. And, of course, thank you to our students (and their parents) as well. You guys rock. We’ll see you next year!
News Coverage from the 2019 Sustainability Tour
And, thank you to everyone who attended and supported previous Sustainability Tours in 2015, 2016 and 2018!
The 3rd Sustainability Tour was held during Washoe County School District’s spring break in March of 2018. A behavior change survey indicated that there was a 65% increase in knowledge about sustainability issues. Before attending the tour only 30% of the students were interested in pursuing green careers or incorporating sustainability into their future career. After the tour, that number jumped to 85%! In addition, 100% of the students said they would recommend the Sustainability Tour to a friend!
