Teacher’s Corner: June 2023

Project ReCharge is excited to announce that two new lessons have been added to the curriculum! Michelle Hollis helped develop the Biomimicry and Reverse Engineering lesson, where students dissect a flower to consider ways they could reverse engineer the structure and function of the flower to create a solution to a sustainability problem. Eric Heiselt helped develop the Food Sustainability lesson, where students investigate the full circle of crop production and transportation to consider more sustainable ways to buy, package, and distribute food.

Don’t miss the ReFresh session in collaboration with our Career Quest program July 24th – 26th. This will be an in-person professional learning opportunity for teachers who have finished the Complete PL. Each day we will highlight a few new lessons to the Project ReCharge curriculum paired with a Career Quest field trip. New lessons include Transportation, Geothermal, Food Sustainability, Climate Scene Investigation, and more. Possible field trip locations around the Reno/Carson area include Tesla, Ormat, Patagonia, and more. Attendees are eligible for a $50 Amazon gift card per day or Professional Learning hours available, a $150 travel stipend PLUS restock of Project ReCharge materials you need. Check out the Project ReCharge Refresh Professional Learning this summer to learn more: https://envirolution.org/prc-pl-refresh/
