Students will Visit Lockwood Landfill During Sustainability Tour on March 27

Did you Know: The Lockwood Landfill creates green energy from landfill gas? Lockwood powers two CAT 3520 engines, generating approximately 3.2 megawatts of electricity. The “green” electricity goes directly into the existing NV Energy electrical grid. That’s enough electricity to power approximately 2,000 homes annually.

Lockwood Landfill will be one of the stops on our upcoming Sustainability Tour, where students will learn about their sustainable treatment of waste. Held March 26th to 30th during Washoe County School District Spring Break.
